An Avvo Rating evaluates a lawyer's background and is calculated using a mathematical model which considers the information shown on the lawyer's Avvo profile, including years in practice, disciplinary history, professional achievements, and industry recognition. Avvo.com rates 97 percent of U.S. lawyers and provides consumers with detailed information on attorneys and legal issues to help them make the choices that are right for them.

The Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois (CLII) was established to advance the collaborative practice as a conflict resolution option in Illinois. CLII's goal is to provide information about the advantages of collaborative divorce and recommend experienced professionals to guide divorcing couples through the collaborative process, saving both time and money in legal matters. Attorneys accepted to CLII must have a high ethical standard, ongoing training and commitment to the collaborative process, and the children's best interests in mind, and they must treat each client with privacy and respect regarding out-of-court settlements.

The Elite Lawyer award recognizes accomplished attorneys throughout the United States who demonstrate a high level of professional achievement, legal competence, reputation, and commitment to their communities. Candidates are selected through a multi-phase evaluation process that considers factors such as years of experience, case results, professional honors, leadership, bar involvement, education, community service, and contributions to the legal profession.

The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) is a premier legal organization made up of over 30,000 attorney volunteers. The Association is dedicated to assisting Illinois lawyers in the practice of law and promotes improvements to the administration of justice. The ISBA engages in many activities on behalf of the legal profession including proposing and shaping the law, educating the public, and supporting state courts.

The Martindale-Hubbell, Client Reviewed designation recognizes attorneys who have received feedback from clients about their legal services and overall experience. Attorneys earn the Client Reviewed designation after receiving at least one client review on Martindale-Hubbell. It provides prospective clients with additional insight into an attorney’s reputation and the experiences of those they have represented.

The National Academy of Family Law Attorneys (NAFLA) organization recognizes the top family law professionals in the United States. The NAFLA awards the best family law attorneys in each state with the prestigious "Top 10" honor. Less than one percent of all lawyers are given this award, and each winner must demonstrate extraordinary knowledge, skill, experience, expertise, and success in their practice of family law.

The Northwest Suburban Bar Association (NWSBA) is a voluntary bar association made up of attorneys, judges, and honorary members, serving the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the local community by inspiring excellence in the practice of law. NWSBA programs benefit members and area residents through education, philanthropy, and volunteer services.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Each year, the Super Lawyers list represents no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state.
